Car Care Tips You Need to Know + GIVEAWAY!

Many of us spend a good chunk of our day driving, right? To and from work, running errands, or even road tripping! Wherever we’re going, we want to make sure we get there safely. That’s why it’s very important to give your vehicle some love and attention and hey, how about a regular checkup? October is National Car Care Month, so in honor of that, let’s make sure our cars are taken care of and ready to hit the road this fall. Here are some important safety checks you’ll need to keep in mind:

First things first, you’ll want to regularly check the levels of all vital fluids in your car. This includes motor oil, coolant, transmission fluid and windshield wiper fluid. If any of these are looking low, it might be time to top them off. And sometimes it’s necessary to just have them changed completely. Each one of these fluids plays it’s own unique role in making sure your car operates properly. Take Motor Oil for example. Not only does it help lubricate the moving parts inside your engine, it also helps to clean, cool, and protect your engine over a wide temperature range. And like the others, motor oil needs to be changed regularly. If you’re unsure about when you should get it changed, just refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual.

Now you’ll also want to check your engine air filter and cabin air filter. Just as you enjoy a breath of fresh air, your vehicle needs fresh air for the engine to work properly. The engine air filter helps ensure optimal fuel combustion and engine performance while the cabin air filter helps improve interior air quality for you and your passengers. Over time, these can be clogged with dust or debris, so you want to make sure to check this regularly.

And finally, you’ll also want to check all of the lights in and on your car. You want to make sure your headlights, taillights, turn signals, parking lights and even your license plate lights are working properly. If any of the bulbs have burned out, you’ll need to replace them. You’re also gonna want to clean your lights regularly to remove haze and to clarify the lenses. This will ensure you have better visibility during night driving.

If you’re feeling a little nervous about performing these checkups yourself, don’t worry! All you have to do is bring your car in to your local Jiffy Lube and their technicians will help you out. In fact they can perform a long list of checkups for your car, including a Jiffy Lube Signature Service® Oil Change, brake services, tire rotations, transmission services, and lots more!

And in honor of National Car Care month, we've partnered with Jiffy Lube to giveaway a $50 Jiffy Lube gift card AND a $50 Shell gift card. That’s right, two lucky winners!

You can enter now through October 30th by heading here.

We’ll announce the winner on Facebook.com/LifestyleListTV on October 31st. That’s right, on Halloween! Spooktacular, right? Good luck to all and happy driving!
