4 Ways to Show Your Patriotism

Independence day is upon us! While the BBQs and fireworks are such a fun way to celebrate, there are plenty of other, unique ways to show your patriotism this 4th of July. Here are 4 easy and fun ways to celebrate this year.

1. Travel

You don’t have to go far or plan an elaborate trip to enjoy a nice getaway. Every city has an interesting back story and some history you can take away! Make a day trip out of it and visit a local historical museum, talk to the locals and join in on their 4th of July celebrations.

2. Make a change

If there’s something you’re passionate about, something you think should be done differently or maybe even a cause you’ve always wanted to support - do it! Register to vote, write to an elected official, or start a petition. We’re free to do it!

3. Show our military men and women you are thinking of them.

Here’s a cool idea - send them a care package like coffee! Community Coffee has a fabulous program called Military Match.

More than 2.2 million men and women serve in the U.S. military today and approximately 400,000 are stationed abroad in one of the 150 countries U.S. military bases are maintained. Community Coffee thinks that’s 2.2 million reasons to show support and donate coffee to our troops. Over a decade ago, the company began supporting military personnel by shipping pallets of coffee overseas. Over the past five years, they’ve been thanking the men and women in the U.S. Military by doubling customer coffee orders for free through that Military Match program.

Here’s how to get involved:

When you buy a Military Match set of four 12 oz., 16 oz., or K-Cup® 18 ct. coffees, Community Coffee Company will match your order with an additional 4, and send all 8 items – plus a signature military mug – to the APO/FPO or military base address you provide. This past year, Community Coffee Company reached a new landmark with more than 4.2 million cups of coffee shipped to overseas military personnel since the program’s inception.

Military Match sets can be purchased online at CommunityCoffee.com.

4. Get educated

You could read the Declaration of Independence! What better day to read this historical document and take time to understand what it really stands for? It’s available online and it’s not a complicated read, maybe two pages long. Or quiz yourself and take a mock citizenship test similar to the one Prospective Americans take to earn citizenship. You might learn something new!
