Live Life Outside this Summer

Hey parents! Here’s a tip as you’re thinking of ways to keep the kids entertained this summer... start by heading outside. It’s as simple as that!

Studies have shown that children who play outside are more physically active, more creative in their play, less aggressive and show better concentration. Yet, did you know that the average American child only spends about 4 -7 minutes a day in unstructured play outdoors, but more than 7 hours a day in front of a screen?

So, this summer, TruGreen is on a mission to encourage people to spend more time outside creating memories with family and friends, and experiencing the joys of the outdoors. And a beautiful lawn is the perfect setting!

There are so many ways to enjoy the outdoors together. These are my favorites:

  • You could invite family and friends over for a backyard BBQ

  • Host a backyard lawn game tournament - like cornhole or croquet

  • Jack and I like to do scavenger hunts outside looking for fun things in nature

  • You could let the kids run through the sprinklers

  • Or even play fetch with your dog

The possibilities are endless!

TruGreen believes life should be lived outside, so share a photo on social media of you and your family enjoying the great outdoors and use the hashtag, #LiveLifeOutside for a chance to win weekly, fun outdoor prizes! The sweeps only runs through September 7, 2016, so now is the time to post!

And if you’re curious about what your lawn, trees and shrubs need this summer, TruGreen’s PhD certified specialists will evaluate your lawn and design a tailored approach to give it exactly what it needs at exactly the right time so you can really enjoy a nice lush lawn while you “Live Life Outside”. Be sure to check out TruGreen.com for more fun outdoor ideas and tips.
